The Minefield Observation Tour is a gravel ride that takes in a series of defensive structures built for the defence of Britain during World War Two. We will pass a variety of different pillboxes as they were known. Our final destination will be the Minefield Control Tower that sits protecting the river Crouch. Considered at the time to be a possible landing point for the Germans to gain easy access to London, the river was mined and under constant observation. The ride will be around 50 miles long and will take in a multitude of different surfaces. Bring a bike ready for an adventure.
We will be using a small ferry from Burnham-on-Crouch to make our way back to the end of the route in Leigh-on-Sea. Come and join me as we ride segments of the Eastern Command line and explore history on two wheels…
